TECHNICAL/QUALITY MANAGER

As part of their strategic development plan our Client is  now looking to recruit an exceptionally driven, motivated and proactive  Technical / Quality Manager to take ownership of the Quality and Technical teams.

This role requires a high level of food technology knowledge and a clear understanding of operations to ensure that all products meet the highest quality and food safety standards. The role is best suited to a person fully qualified in their field with current up to date knowledge of food production Industry trends plus a sound technical & operational understanding / background , a leader and manager who motivates and  inspires their teams and colleagues to deliver positive results along with continuous improvement.

Core Responsibilities

  • Support and drive the Quality / Technical agenda and build strong working relationships with all other Departments 
  • Develop and implement a Critical Food Safety Risk Assessment process 
  • Maintain clients BRC accreditation – minimum grade A grade preferred 
  • Manage operations in a manner which always adheres and complies with current BRC standard 
  • Assist in the development of a robust TACCP / VACCP Risk assessment programme 
  • Capture and ensure all non-conformance are dealt with expediently with all root cause actions closed out and projects initiated as required
  • Ensure All customer complaints and non-conformances are effectively recorded / actioned / closed
  • Lead the Product Recall / Withdrawal Team and complete mass balance and trace exercise
  • Manage specifications for all products and implement a regular monitoring schedule flow with all stakeholders to review all products against specification
  • Successfully complete External Audits from Customers and Official Agencies 
  • Prepare / Manage and conduct all internal audits
  • Build strong relationships with all stakeholders across all product categories
  • Drive all contract manufacturer approval and monitoring programme
  • Support the Commercial and NPD Teams to develop robust adherence to all regulatory requirements in all regions
  •  Lead Manage completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual audits/ meetings / reviews and associated reporting as required
  • Drive compliance of legal and brand requirements to produce safe and trusted quality products 
  • Assist in development of quality and food safety policies and standards for new product introduction 
  • Assist in the development and sharing of best practices of emerging issues / initiatives 
  • Collaborate with Senior Team to develop long term strategic direction
  • Manage and ensure diligent product traceability/Laboratory Testing Programs / Product Testing 
  •  Work closely with sales/ NPD and plant operations teams in the areas of quality program management, inspection coordination and testing requirements
  • Implement and manage all necessary internal quality assurance systems and infrastructure to support company growth
  • Develop employees through training, monitoring, and mentoring

Experience & Skills Requirements:

• Minimum third level in Food Science/ Quality / Technical Management.

• Minimum of 5 years Quality / Technical Management experience in a food manufacturing environment preferably at group level dealing with multiple sites 

• Knowledge and experience implementing Quality Systems, BRC Global Food Safety Standard and Retailer Standards

• Strong knowledge of HACCP, TACCP / VACCP / Food Fraud 

• Strong regulatory knowledge for both product and process

• Quality risk-based thinking and decision-making ability

• Strong computer application skills (Word, Power Point, Excel)

• Remote auditing experience 

• Collaborative “can do” attitude 

• Self-starter who can work to critical path targets

• Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team

• Demonstrate significant leadership experience in a technical role in the food industry
