3 year Fixed Term Contract
Dogs Trust Ireland is currently seeking to recruit an Executive Director for a 3 year fixed term contract.
Dogs Trust began its work in Ireland in 2005, and today we are Ireland’s largest dog welfare charity. Our mission is to bring about the day when all dogs can enjoy a happy life, free from the threat of unnecessary destruction. That means we promise never to destroy a healthy dog. To achieve this, we rely on the prevention and cure approach: rescue and rehoming work aims to deal with the immediate needs of abandoned and relinquished dogs; preventative measures, such as neutering, microchipping, education and lobbying are used as longer-term solutions. We also offer a lifetime of training and behavioural support for all dogs and puppies rehomed from our centre.
Last year we cared for and found homes for over 900 dogs through our Rehoming Centre and transferred an additional 1,118 to our Rehoming Centres in the UK through our Hub Transfer Scheme; neutered over 3,110 under our Subsidised Neutering, helped 5,329 dog owners microchip their dogs and conducted 2,265 free safety workshops throughout Ireland. We are looking for an exceptional candidate who can help us build on these achievements.
The Executive Director of Dogs Trust Ireland is an all-encompassing role: with leadership, management, income, advocacy and policy, with the aim of driving significant improvements to the lives of the dogs in our care and of those throughout Ireland.
Ideal candidates will be able to provide inspirational leadership and direction for Dogs Trust Ireland by setting and delivering plans that meet strategic aims. You will be accountable for the operation, financial management and administration of the charity. As a vibrant external ambassador for the organisation and our mission you will oversee the development and management of our strategic partnerships.
The successful candidate will provide exceptional leadership to the senior management team and direction to all staff, whilst also building effective working relationships with the Directorate in Dogs Trust UK to deliver wider organisational goals.
We are looking for a seasoned senior executive, with a demonstrable track record of developing strategy, building organisational capability, generating significant financial income and delivering measurable results. You must bring a warm, positive and upbeat style which inspires and motivates people to deliver our mission with passion and enthusiasm.
The successful candidate must be a supportive and empowering individual who inspires confidence, leads by example and is an accomplished and influential communicator with proven stakeholder management skills to engage with all levels of staff in the organisation, our Board of Directors and Trustees and external partners.
