Business Development Manager - Food Industry 

 

Our Client:

A significant management opportunity has arisen with one of Ireland’s leading food technology companies. We are looking for someone who has a food science, technology, chemistry degree/masters and is experienced in B2B food ingredient sales.

The Role: 

To identify, develop and manage new business accounts which will deliver profitable, sustainable growth in line with the company`s capabilities. You will contribute to the development and implementation of an effective sales strategy that allows for business growth in Ireland in line with objectives set out in the company Business Plan. You will be able to maximize current sales opportunities and actively search out new business, finding new routes to market and innovative ideas that will accelerate business growth. Your ability to develop and maintain “partnership” relationships with internal and external clients will be key to success and will allow you to provide feedback and market intelligence to all areas of the business to ensure we provide what the customers need, staying ahead of trends.

 

To be successful in this role, you will need to have proven experience as a BDM with food service focus in Ireland. You’ll have a successful track record of growing business year on year, delivering against ambitious sales targets and will have demonstrated your ability to work with teams and achieve results and demonstrable success in engaging with key customers and stakeholders. You will maximise on existing sales opportunities and explore new sales opportunities with major accounts and new routes to market.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish meaningful challenging targets and achieve them
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts
  • Ensure accurate sales reporting using systems and communication tools.
  • Prioritise and target new customers / accounts / business opportunities.
  • Build new “partnership” relationships whilst managing and maintaining existing relationships.
  • Provide market intelligence.

Candidate:

  • Experience of selling in the food service market (5+ years)
  • Outstanding sales experience, proven results with key accounts.
  • Strong planner
  • Strong negotiator
  • A food science, technology, chemistry degree/masters
  • Able to work with and understand sales performance metrics
  • Hands on experience with CRM software and MS Office suite particularly Excel
  • Excellent communication & presentation skills
  • Dynamic personality, passionate, self-motivated and committed work ethic
  • Honest and genuine in character with a desire to work as part of a team in developing a business with a reputation for customer service and product quality and innovation.
